Hummingbirds are amazing birds, not just because of their size and beautiful colors, but also because of their skillful abilities to stop in mid-flight, as well as fly frontwards, sideways and backwards. They are associated with the Faerie Realm and rain, are very independent birds and have scared away eagles who have come too close to their nests. Quite strength and courage for such as small bird! Hummingbirds remind us to be joyful in all that we do and they offer us inner strength for accomplishing tasks that seem impossible. This hummingbird bracelet was inspired by a few different sources. First, Pedro was asked to restore a friend's beaded hummingbird bracelet. He restored the bracelet and was captivated by the design. Then, coincidentally or not, a hummingbird built her nest in a tree nearby Pedro's studio. The bird often swoops down and hovers just a few meters from us as we make our way past. We know that she is probably protecting her nest and may be unhappy that we are so close, but it's quite amazing that she interacts in this way. We've caught her on film flying so close. Pedro was compelled to make this bracelet as a result of the inspiration he found in Hummingbird.
This bracelet was made with size 15 seed beads, smaller than the traditionally used size 11. It measures 6" when closed, but is expandable to fit larger size wrists.
